Division Of The Year Award goes to Division H!

Division H achieved President Distinguished status for the year 2018/2019. The highest award in the Toastmasters International District recognition program. Over and above, Division H was also recognized for achieving Division of the year award. Division of the year award and the President Distinguished award are awards for the members and are achieved by members.

Division Of The Year award is presented to the Division Director of the Division in Toastmasters District74 that has achieved the highest score/points of all Toastmasters Divisions in District 74. District 74 Toastmasters consist of members from South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Division of the year and President Distinguished Division recognition is purely the results of a committed team effort. No single Toastmaster can achieve this alone. It takes a collective collaborative and cooperative effort from every single member.

I was privileged to have been afforded the opportunity so serve Division H, my favorite Division as their division director.
One of the first things that attracted me to toastmasters, was witnessing the power of teamwork, a fun supportive learning environment and amazing individuals with a heart of gold. Toastmasters share the same sentiments everywhere. When Andrew Tsuro DTM, who played a pivotal role in the success of our Heroic division H, and I landed in Malawi and met with Mr William Le Roux, CEO of Standard bank Malawi, and his staff, Toastmasters members in Malawi joined us for the meeting. Karen Levy Strauss, who was in South Africa at the time also joined the meeting online. At toastmasters, teamwork is absolutely one our favorite ethos. Thank you, Mr Le Roux, for giving us the seal of approval. Seeing the collaboration, cooperation and coordination in action across countries was a CoE moment for me. No, Not Cash Over Everything, But Community of Experts. And such too, was the team of high performing leaders I served with in Division H.

Toastmasters gives you the knowledge, the skill and the confidence, to communicate effectively as a leader and to lead inspirationally with integrity, respect, service, and excellence. Toastmasters teaches leadership and communication skills which are useful, applicable and appliable within the work or business environment, home and everywhere in the global village.

I enjoyed serving my fellow toastmasters as their Division H Director for the year 2018/2019 and I learned a great deal about Intellectual leadership, leading leaders and applied lessons where applicable. I also learned a lot about teamwork, leading high performing teams and achieving the desired results. One of my primary goals as Division Director is to ensure that each club and corporate programme achieves its mission and fulfills its responsibilities to its members.

I was privileged to have been mentored by our past District Director Mr Keith Bowen and our past Division H Director Dimitri Grekas who also served as my guidance committee on my high-performance leadership project. It is through their mentorship that I achieved my Leadership Excellence Award. I salute you for the significant difference you made towards the success of Division H becoming Division of the year for the 2018/2019 toastmaster’s year.

To my five phenomenal esteemed Area Directors. Ms Omega Mwanza, where there was no club growth in Malawi, her determination broke the mode. Mr Enias Chinwe, when crisis showed up, regarding our training for the 100+ Club Officers, resolved the crisis by comming up with innovative solutions and implemented in a short space of time. Mr Gath Thomson ensured that clubs were supported in achieving excellence and there was no club left behind. Mrs Thando Cofu, led by example, influenced membership and club growth and was the first Area to achieve President Distinguished Area. And Rick Raubenheimer, by going the extra mile by ensuring that clubs that did not achieve any goals since the start of the new toastmaster year, eventually achieved their goals and went from Zero to Hero. A team that was always self-motivated, self-driven and self-inspired. Once again, my sincerest gratitude towards you all. I’m grateful for their dedication, focus, hard work and the tremendous support they have showed toward our vision and mission as a Division.

Hearty thanks to Margot Don, past Division H Director, who believed we can achieve excellence, the goals we have set for ourselves, and the goals the Division has set. A special Thanks to Lynda Eatwell, Elane O’Gorman and Ian Bratt, who always said yes – when one asked for assistance. Noneleala Xaba-Butje, SPAR SRDC HR executive thank you for supporting our vision and mission. Mr Maurce Radebe, Executive Vice President – Energy Business Sustainability of Sasol Limited, thank you for taking part in all our Club officer training initiatives and sharing your leadership wisdom and experiences with us.
Thanks to Frank Tsuro DTM, our Immediate past district director, and Nikki Quinn DTM, Merry Jubber DTM, Andrew Tsuro DTM, Njabulo Thela DTM, Gerson Kamatuka DTM, for assisting us with our team strategies, effectiveness and deliverables.

To the members, I truly appreciate you. My heartfelt thanks to you for your very active participation in the distinguished club program and your commitment to your continual personal and professional development through the toastmasters. I have no doubt that Division H would not have been able to achieve the level of success and the results it has without your efforts and contributions. Again, Congratulations to the Division H teams on your special achievement of attaining President Distinguished Division and Division of the year award. I am very proud of all you all. Your stellar achievements are admirable and inspirational.

I trust that you will continue to achieve even greater results in the future. I’m looking forward to your future success.
Congratulations to all our members!

With all my respect,
Audrey Mphela, Audrey Mphela Division H Director 2018/2019
